Peace Run 2019

In the Sri Chinmoy Centre, we combine an inner life of meditation and spiritual disciplines with projects that give us joy and serve our community and the world. One of those projects is the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, in which runners have carried a burning peace torch to over 160 countries – a beautiful and simple way to communicate the shared hopes we all have in common. This video is from a 3-day Peace Run we held in September to commemorate the United Nations International Day of Peace.

As part of the Peace Run, we visited schools in Þorlakshöfn and Eydubakki. At the exact same time, a giant exhibition of peace drawings from children all over the world – the largest exhibition of its kind – was taking place in the Colosseum in Rome, and among those drawings were some that were collected from schools in Iceland during last year’s Peace Run. We have already started collecting pictures for next year’s exhibition…
